Zurich Cantonal Bank revealed on Wednesday (18th March) that holdings in its platinum exchange-traded fund (ETF) have risen by 22 per cent since 5th February, Reuters reports.

The bank has confirmed that the amount of metal it holds to back its ZPLA.S ETF increased to 160,800 oz during the period.

Furthermore, holdings of its palladium-backed ETF ZPAL.S edged up by two per cent (or 12,600 oz) to 544,600 oz.

Investors have poured money into the products - which companies claim are free from counterparty risk - in recent months as they look for a safe haven from the volatility of other assets.
