Greg Sebborn has resigned from his position of CEO of the Zimbabwe platinum producer Zimplats.

In a statement, Zimplats praised Mr Sebborn's "valuable contribution to the company" and said that a replacement would be announced "in due course".

Mr Sebborn, who had been with Zimplats since 1988, will be standing down as of August 2007 but will remain with the company as non-executive director.

The resignation of Mr Sebborn follows those of Keith Rumble and Cathie Markus from the board at Impala Platinum, which owns an 86.9 per cent stake in Zimplats, as the South African platinum major undergoes a changing of the guard at executive level.

In the wake of the resignations, David Brown, who had been Implats' Chief Financial Officer, was installed as CEO to head up a team that also comprises Les Paton and Derek Engelbrecht.
