Zimplats board changes 14th February 2007

Platinum producer Zimplats has announced it has made major changes at board level.

The Zimbabwean firm, which concentrates its efforts on the country's Great Dyke region and is a branch of the Impala group, has revealed a number of resignations and appointments.

Dr Fred Roux, the current Chairman of Impala Platinum Holdings, has accepted a directorship at Zimplats, while fellow Director at Impala, Dr Khotso Mokhele, has also joined the Zimplats board.

The Chairman of the Commercial Arbitration Centre of Zimbabwe, Muchadeyi Masunda, will join them as directors.

Elizabeth Chitiga has resigned from the Zimplats board and has also stepped down as Chair of the Operating Subsidiary, Zimbabwe Platinum Mines.

"We are pleased that Ms Chitiga remains a Director of Zimbabwe Platinum Mines," the company said in a statement.

Derek Engelbrecht, Mike Rossouw and Mike Teke have also resigned as directors from the main company to take similar positions at Zimbabwe Platinum Mines.
