UK vehicle production on the up 26th November 2003
Vehicle production in the UK is continuing to rise during 2003, according to the latest figures released by the government.
Data released by the Office of National Statistics shows that in the quarter up to October 2003, car production jumped by 2.7 per cent on the previous three months.
Export production enjoyed a solid performance, rising by 5.4 per cent, echoing a similar rise in domestic production of 5.9 per cent.
However, vehicle production was down on the same period for last year, with total car production falling by 4.7 per cent.
Nevertheless, the continuing upward trend for production this year is likely to encourage analysts seeking signs of a sustained recovery in the industry.
