Sylvania set for early pgm start 10th January 2007
Sylvania Resources has announced that its platinum group metals (pgms) recovery plants are now set to be completed earlier than previously expected.
The company has announced that it is bringing forward the establishment of three of its plants by several months.
Sylvania has signed an addendum to its services and supply agreement with Samancor, detailing the earlier start-up of its operations.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company's Millsell plant is now due for completion in April this year, ahead of the previously forecast June 2007, while Steelpoort is due to be completed in May 2007 rather than October 2008 and Elandsdrift's completion date has been brought forward from March 2008 to July this year.
Sylvania signed the original agreement with Samancor last July, with the former planning to extract 250,000 ounces of pgms from the latter's dumps.
