Sylvania Resources raises projected pgms output 17th October 2007
Sylvania Resources has raised projected production of platinum group metals (pgms) at its three South African operations.
The low-cost platinum producer has announced that it expects production of pgms to rise to 6,685 oz per month by the third quarter of 2008, Forbes.com reports.
Meanwhile, the cost of mining will stand at less than 2,000 zar per ounce, it added.
News of the revisions to the firm's output come as it recently announced that it had made positive progress on improving output at both its Minsell and Steelport platinum and chrome recovery plants.
Sylvania also confirmed that work to upgrade the UG2 platinum deposit at the proposed Everest North project has been completed.
Terry McConnachie, Chief Executive of Sylvania, said at the time: '"The better than forecast head grades and recoveries bode well for the company as it moves towards full production by the third quarter of 2008."
