Sylvania announces PRP completions 9th August 2007

Sylvania Resources has announced that it has completed the development of two platinum group metal (pgm) recovery plants (PRPs).

The firm has revealed that its Millsell plant has been operating since early June with few problems and only some minor instrumentation and control issues are currently outstanding.

Sylvania added that production at the Millsell project had been "close to budget", with 186 oz of pgms produced since it began operations, compared to the company's original aim of 212 oz.

The firm has also stated that its offtake agreement with Amplats will cover the entire production from Millsell for the life of the operation.

Commenting on the efforts of the firm, Sylvania Chief Executive, Terry McConnachie, said: "Successfully completing these platinum recovery plants marks real progress in Sylvania's assertive growth plans."

He added: "The cash flow generated by these projects will play a key part in Sylvania's business growth model."
