Students to be recognised for precious metals research 4th November 2010

Students who have started or plan to conduct research in precious metals are set to be nominated for a series of prestigious awards.

The International Precious Metal Institute (IPMI) is asking faculty members to put forward individuals for its 2011 Student Award Program.

Each recipient of the seven awards on offer - who must not be graduating before June 2012 to qualify for recognition - will receive $5,000 towards their projects.

In addition, they will be given complimentary registration for the technical programme and social events at the IPMI 35th Annual Conference, plus $1,500 in travel expenses.

The event is set to take place at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas between 11th and 14th June 2011.

Students put forward for the awards must meet a number of criteria with their work and nominations must be made to the IPMI headquarters by 31st January 2011.

The awards on offer are the IPMI Graduate Student Award; the IPMI Metalor Technologies Graduate Student Award; the IPMI Sabin Metal Student Award; the IPMI Johnson Matthey Student Award; the IPMI Metro New York Chapter Student Award; the IPMI Bright Futures Award and the IPMI Student Award.

An unrestricted grant of $5,000 will also be given to the faculty advisor of one of the student award recipients.
