Platinum mining firm Stillwater Mining has announced that it has secured a deal on a new four-year labour agreement.

The company had suffered strike action in recent days after the previous labour agreement had run out without any deal being reached on a new contract.

However, members at the USW International Union have now accepted the new deal and as such the mineworkers have returned to work, effective with the swing shift on the evening of July 17th.

Details of the deal have not yet been released but the USW International Union's membership had previously rejected two tentative agreements that had been reached between the union's representatives and Stillwater Mining.
