Stillwater confident on production 2nd October 2006

Stillwater has announced that it expects its production figures for this year to remain on target despite the recent disruption to its operations.

Wildfires have forced the company's operations to close as smoke made access routes impassable during some days in September and there had been concerns that the closures would result in the company putting out lower than anticipated production figures by the end of the year.

However, Stillwater is still confident that its pgm mine production will reach 600,000 ounces over the course of 2006, while costs will be between $300 and $315 per ounce.

In a statement released by the company, Stillwater pointed out that its operations had not been directly threatened by the wildfires, meaning that there was never any danger of damage to its facilities.
