The beauty and luxurious quality of platinum has long made it popular with A-list stars so the opening of Garrard's flagship store in Beverly Hills was bound to attract some famous faces.

Opening its doors on Rodeo Drive, the British jeweller welcomed a host of Hollywood's favorite ladies to admire its designs.

Sharon Stone arrived fashionably late to try on some pieces, according to E! Online. The Basic Instinct actress reportedly seemed particularly taken with the famous Heart of the Kingdom, a stunning facetted heart-shaped Burma ruby of 40.63 carats.

Set in a dazzling platinum and diamond necklace of 155 carats, the jewel is breathtaking in its beauty and elegance.

Brooke Shields was similarly impressed by the sparkling array of gems on display, examining the Great Chrysanthemum - a 104.5-carat pear-shaped diamond on a beautiful platinum necklace.
