North American Palladium announced that palladium production reached 65,791 oz for the quarter ending June 30th.

This figure was similar to the 66,651 oz produced in the same quarter of last year.

However, mill head grade for the second quarter of 2008 improved to 2.35 g/t palladium against a head grade of 2.26 g/t in the same period last year.

The firm announced that the Lac des Iles Mine produced 65,791 oz of palladium although it was affected by a series of rainfalls during the second half of June.

This forced changes in the short-term mine plan due to high water levels in the open pit but the situation is expected to be fixed by the end of July.

Underground operations also delivered consistent results and high grades with average palladium head grade improving to 5.82 g/t.

Mill availability reached 87.8 per cent in the second quarter, a decline on last year's 89.9 per cent.
