Seagate predicts jump in storage demand 6th March 2007
Disk drive manufacturer Seagate Technology has announced it expects increased demand to drive an improvement in revenues in the next couple of years.
Chief Executive William Watkins unveiled his predictions for sustained "double-digit unit growth" and "double-digit revenue growth" to shareholders and potential investors at a conference on Monday.
Mr Watkins identified the company's notebook products - demand for which he described as "kind of on fire" - as a particular growth area and drew attention to recent company figures showing 20-25 per cent growth in the sector to substantiate his claim.
He also asserted that the increased demand is being driven by nascent, booming economies, such as India, China and Russia, which are investing heavily in computers, and via the incorporation of hard drives into televisions.
It therefore appears that demand for computer memory storage facilities will continue to grow over the months ahead.
