Russian agency to continue charging commission for pgm exports 28th June 2006

Almazjuvelirexport, the Russian state selling agent for pgms, is to be allowed to continue charging commission from companies with quotas to export pgms, according to Interfax Group.

The state-owned company has been given permission by the Russian Finance Ministry to charge up to 1.5 per cent of the value of pgms exported this year, the same limit that was imposed during the previous four years.

The official Russian export agency has been trading in pgms, diamonds and jewellery for over 26 years and charges commission from all Russian firms that export uncut diamonds and pgms.

According to Interfax, Almazjuvelirexport has received 3 per cent commission for exporting uncut diamonds and 4 per cent for cut and polished diamonds since 2003, with the exception of diamonds from the State Fund.
