Royal Bafokeng Resources chief joins Jubilee Platinum 24th September 2004

Mining outfit Jubilee Platinum has appointed a new non-executive director from the South African firm Royal Bafokeng Resources (RBR).

The London-listed company confirmed that former RBR chief executive Chris Molefe would be joining as it seeks to develop its two South African subsidiaries, Dullstroom Plats and Maude Mining and Exploration.

Mr Molefe, who also serves on the Angloplat joint venture Rasimone mines operating committee, will play a key role in furthering the group's pgm interests.

Jubilee Platinum's Colin Bird told I-Net-Bridge: "We welcome Chris Molefe to the board. His knowledge and expertise of the South African platinum industry and business in general will play a crucial role in the company's growth and development."

"His appointment is timely, particularly given the changing mining regulatory climate in South Africa," he added.

The firm also announced that Malcolm Burne would also be acting as non-executive chairman.

Mr Burne takes over the role from previous chairman Stephen Kearney, who died earlier this year.
