Pop star goes platinum with wedding ring 16th June 2004
Canadian singer Alanis Morissette has become the latest global celebrity to endorse platinum jewellery, after choosing the precious metal for her wedding ring, which she helped design.
In an interview with Us Weekly magazine, the platinum-selling artist revealed her choice of bachelor and the type of ring she had selected.
Ms Morissette will marry actor Ryan Reynolds after he flew to Ottawa to ask Morissette's parents for permission.
Mr Reynolds also helped the singer design her platinum ring, which features a 2.5 carat emerald-cut diamond, presenting it to her on one knee.
The involvement of Alanis Morissette in designing the ring echoes the choice of Hollywood celebrity couple Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, who also selected platinum for their own uniquely designed matrimonial jewellery.
The news comes after a number of high-profile celebrities donned platinum in recent weeks, including Jennifer Lopez who sported a platinum and diamond necklace designed by Neil Lane at her own wedding, in a total jewellery ensemble reportedly worth around $7 million.
Earlier this year Lane decked out Golden Globe winner Charlize Theron in platinum and diamond bracelets, while Jennifer Garner sported platinum and diamond cuff bracelets.
