A platinum wedding dress that cost £240,000 will go on show in London today (Monday) as part of the Hatton Garden Jewellery Week.

Made of 40 metres of fabric spun from silk and platinum thread, the dress was designed by Mauro Adami.

The centrepiece of the festival, the dress is being displayed in the Wedding Ring Shop to celebrate the history of artistry and craftsmanship in the industry.

Also included in the festival is a treasure hunt to win a £15,000 platinum ring and pendant.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, there are over 800 jewellers and manufacturers located in the area which has over a third of all the jewellers in the capital.

Mauro Adami has also made a platinum jacket for Keith Richards.

"Any celebrity planning a platinum dress for their dream wedding should move fast - platinum prices are set to rise so this is the time to buy. Think of it as an investment, darling," a spokesperson told the Islington Gazette.

"Platinum is one of the world's most versatile metals - just one gram can make a thread two kilometres long. The dress has unmistakeable Italian style," she added.
