Platinum vintage jewellery proves popular 6th March 2006

Vintage jewellery is inspiring many modern designers and platinum is increasingly at the heart of it.

Californian-based Carl Blackburn has just released details of a new collection characteristic of the trend, using platinum in his retro feel designs.

His Edwardian look hand-engrained chandelier clover and heart earrings with pave set diamonds is have been turning heads, with the themed St Patrick's Day offerings attracting attention.

Mr Blackburn claims they are more than just gimmicks, saying there is an emerging trend for the styled, classical look.

"It’s much more than the coming St. Patrick’s Day. Few symbols are more evocative for jewellery than the four-leaf clover. Luck, faith, hope, and love are all captured in this iconic symbol from nature," he said.

The prevailing fashions from the turn of the last century have clearly inspired the designer and many famous names are opting for a more classical look.

British actress Keira Knightley arrived for the Oscars on Sunday wearing a vintage 1960s Bulgari necklace, just one of Hollywood's glitterati to evince the 'classic' look.
