Platinum used in new RNA labelling kit 16th March 2006

Kreatech Biotechnology has announced the release of a new labelling kit for small RNA analysis applications that uses platinum to achieve results.

The miRacULS miRNA Isolation and Labelling Kit is available, with the firm confident that the chemistry underpinning the new product can deliver results.

Kreatech's ULS technology uses the unique binding properties of platinum to create coordinative bonds with biomolecules by binding to specific sites on DNA, RNA and proteins, the company said.

Describing ULS function as a kind of "molecular glue", Kreatech says its versatility allows customers have a choice of the molecular label attached to the ULS in order to distinguish biomolecules of interest.

Brent Keller, general manager of Kreatech USA, said: "Our miRacULS miRNA Isolation and Labelling Kit expands our product offering for micro array based MiRNA and siRNA analysis.

"By supplying to the market the first combined isolation and labelling kit we provide our customers with convenient, rapid and reproducible kits to carry out their miRNA experiments."

He added: "In the emerging field of miRNA analysis by microarray, ULS proves to be a powerful enabling tool where other enzymatic methods often fail."
