Platinum tequila bottle is 'world's most expensive' 24th November 2010
A company in Mexico has chosen platinum for a new product which could become the world's most expensive bottle, it emerged today (24th November).
Designer Fernando Altamarino, from specialty drinks maker Tequila Ley .925, has created the 'Diamond Sterling', according to a new Reuters report.
Featuring 4,100 brilliant-cut diamonds and 2.38kg of pure platinum, the vessel will gain the Guinness World Record for bottles if its valuation of $3.5 million is met.
Mr Altamarino initially hit the headlines four years ago when he created a similar luxury limited-edition range of tequila bottles encased in platinum, which sold for £120,000 apiece.
"Since we started out, we began with the idea of making the finest, most expensive bottle of tequila in the world," he stated at the time.
Meanwhile, watch maker Seiko recently unveiled a new platinum timepiece to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its popular Grand Seiko range.
