Platinum struts New York's catwalks 14th September 2004

The high fashion allure of platinum is continuing to exert an attraction, with the latest supermodel catwalk show in New York exhibiting the last word in jewellery chic.

Models showed off the latest designs from Chris Aire, also known as 'The Iceman', with an estimated $175 million worth of jewellery and watches on display.

The Chris Aire Collection was showcased amid a glitzy fashion and music show, with some of the world's top models in attendance.

One of the main highlights of the jewellery show was the Divine Halter worn by British superstar Naomi Campbell.

The halter consisted of Red Gold, platinum and 300 round and fancy-cut diamonds weighing in at around 243 carats - each individually worth more than $10 million.

Reports on IDEX say that supermodel Tyson was also present at the show, and also donned Aire's patented platinum designs.

Hip-hop star Nelly closed the show, underlining the growing crossover between fashion, jewellery and music.

Nelly was recently fitted out by Aire with more than $5 million worth of jewellery for the MTV Video Music Awards.
