Justin Timberlake arrived at the Sundance Film Festival sporting a brand new pair of platinum sunglasses.

While the trend for celebrities to wear platinum jewellery items, from cufflinks to necklaces and earrings, the pop star's choice of sunglasses could spark a new trend as his thousands of adoring fans seek to get the latest look.

However, while money is no object to the pop icon, many considering copying his look will have to fork out a large amount of money, as his platinum shades are reported to have set the star back $35,000.

Numerous stars have been spotted in platinum recently, as the status of the precious metal continues to grow around the world.

At the Golden Globe Awards in the US, with actresses including Keira Knightley and Rachel Weisz wearing Cartier platinum pieces, while Oscar winner Jamie Foxx was spotted sporting a six Time Zone Watch/Pocket watch.
