Chinese jewellers Sun & Moon (S&M) have produced 950 platinum and 925 silver roses to celebrate Valentine's Day.

The firm, which has stores across China, including Hong Kong and Shanghai, is offering the platinum roses in a number of different sizes from 29.99g/pc to 129.99g/pc.

A 29.99g/pc rose costs around $1,675 with prices rising around $55 per gram. The silver roses cost $90.

Other firms in China are involved in producing roses from precious metals. Shenzhen Longjin has produced gold roses for the Valentine's Day.

Laofengxiang has created pig ornaments, ahead of the Year of the Pig which starts on February 18th, and at a recent sales meeting the firm named the pigs as the best selling gold jewellery product.

Sales of jewellery in China have increased as it is said to be a "golden pig" year, which only occurs every 60 years.

Li Fuying, a store manager for Laofengxiang in Hong Kong, told Reuters: "Display ornaments will sell well before and after the Lunar New Year. As for the other kinds of golden pig accessories, especially those for children, they will sell well for the rest of this year."
