Platinum jewellery trends for 2006 revealed 19th July 2006

In the build up to the autumn fashion season, Platinum Guild International has been outlining what style top platinum designers will be aiming for with their platinum jewellery in the autumn of 2006.

Designer Peter Norman is continuing with the very popular movement towards bold stones in rings and earrings, which has emerged this summer. Large platinum chunks allow the colours of accompanying stones to pop against the white platinum setting.

"Instead of wearing multiple pieces, the trend for fall is to go for one or two huge statement designs and make them your unique signature," explained jewellery and style expert Michael O'Connor.

The guild also noted a growing trend towards rougher platinum textures, with the use of hammering techniques.

Platinum brooches are also predicted to make a comeback this autumn. Some new designs are aimed at men, such as Oscar Heyman and Brothers' platinum and diamond golf tee brooch.

Wearing a chunky, platinum and diamond cuff or a set of stackable line bracelets will be one of the most sought after Hollywood A-lister looks this autumn, Platinum Guild International said.
