Plenty of stars turned out adorned in platinum at the Oscars on Sunday night, as the precious metal once again proved a hit with the big names.

Apart from the stunning platinum shoes worn by Anika Noni Rose for the occasion, there were also plenty of platinum necklaces and bracelets on show on the red carpet.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson walked away with the prized statue but arrived wearing a special diamond look, created for her by renowned platinum designer Neil Lane.

Her official Oscar photograph was taken as she wore over $10 million of Neil Lane gold, diamond and platinum jewellery, designed especially for her by Neil Lane.

There has also been a trend this year for the stars to shun necklaces in favour of bracelets and dangle-drop earrings. Jewelry Weblog suggests this may be down to the fashion for a higher neckline among the actresses at this year's awards.
