Platinum jewellery category kept for 2010 AGTA Spectrum Awards 4th August 2009
The platinum category of a major jewellery competition is set to be retained for next year's event, it emerged on Friday (31st July).
American Gem Trade Association's (AGTA) Spectrum Awards traditionally cover a wide range of jewellery-based scenarios, such as bridal wear, evening wear and day wear.
However, Platinum Guild International (PGI) has confirmed that it will maintain its sponsorship of the 'Platinum Honors' division at the next awards gala in February 2010.
"Platinum Guild International has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with AGTA and the many great designers working in coloured gemstones and platinum," commented PGI USA President Huw Daniel.
"We believe this competition promotes fresh, innovative designs and creates the opportunity for new designers to work in platinum and reinforces the commitment of more established designers to continue to design in platinum."
Pieces must contain at least 90 per cent platinum (excluding gemstones) and comply with ISO standards in order to be eligible for the Platinum Honors category.
The winner will receive a trophy, individual value-added media and promotion packages, and a cash prize of between $10,000 and $40,000, donated by PGI.
