Canada-based Platinum Group Metals Ltd has begun listing its common stock on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).

The stock will appear under the ticker symbol PLG, although the company will retain the trading symbol PTM on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

PGM Ltd Chief Executive Officer R Michael Jones said: "As a company focused on platinum, we are pleased to expand our exposure to the US and global markets through our listing on the American Stock Exchange."

Meanwhile, John McGonegal, Senior Vice President of AMEX's Equities Group said: "We are pleased to welcome Platinum Group Metals Ltd to the American Stock Exchange. We look forward to helping them achieve greater visibility with our unique service offerings, which we employ for all our listed companies."

PGM Ltd holds mineral rights on the Bushveld Igneous Complex in South Africa, as well as around the only primary platinum mine in Canada, near Thunder Bay, Ontario.
