A new Chief Operating Officer (COO) has been unveiled at Platinum Group Metals, the firm has announced.

Peter Busse has been unveiled by the company and will split his time in the new role between South Africa and Canada.

Mr Busse is an experienced mine developer and operator, having previously managed eight operations, including both union and non-union mines. He has also spent seven years as Director of Mining and Vice President of Mining for Zimbabwean operations Falconbridge, Kinross and Trillion.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Jones, President of Platinum Group Metals said: "We are very excited to have Peter join our team and his experience is tailor made for the job ahead. As we move toward a mine build decision and the growth of our company Peter will have the responsibility to build our team to be ready for the next steps."

Meanwhile, Platinum Group Metals RSA has announced the departure of managing director John Gould, who has resigned to pursue other interests.
