Platinum Ferrari Prancing Horse goes on tour 6th April 2011
Ron Walker, chairman of the Melbourne Grand Prix, signed the first copy of The Official Ferrari Opus, a luxury history of the iconic Italian car maker from the publisher Kraken Opus, as the book began its journey around all this season's F1 venues.
London was the venue for the first official showing of the book and of the handmade 20-carat, diamond-encrusted, platinum Prancing Horse that adorns the front cover of certain editions.
The platinum creation, designed by Opus Siroya Collections, features on the $250,000 (£153,700) Ferrari Enzo Diamante Opus.
There are just ten copies of this particular edition of the book, which was unveiled to the British public at the Ferrari Store on Regent Street last December.
Former F1 Ferrari world champion John Surtees was joined by the Italian ambassador, His Excellency Alain Giorgio Maria Economides, for the event.
They became the first people to sign the copy number one of the book, which will go to auction to raise money for charity after visiting every one of this season's F1 host cities before ending up back at Ferrari headquarters in Maranello.
