Platinum Breguet wristwatch sparkles at auction 17th June 2005

A platinum Breguet wristwatch helped to raise over $400,000 at a special auction marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of the famous watchmaker.

Antiquorum raised $4,274,449 from the Important Collector's Wristwatches, Pocket Watches and Clocks auction, with $417,500 raised by the Breuget platinum men's wristwatch.

The watch features jump-hours, a visible one-minute tourbillion, a minute repeater, leap-year indication and a perpetual calendar with retrograde date, according to National Jeweler.

Bidders came from North America, Norway, China, Israel and other countries and featured people on the phone, in the auction room and people bidding online.

The auction took place at the Essex House Hotel in New York on June 15th.track
