Pallinghurst targets 250,000 oz per year at Pilanesberg 23rd September 2010
Pallinghurst has revealed that its main priority is to achieve steady-state pgm production of 250,000 oz per year at its Pilanesberg platinum mine.
The company is looking to ramp up to its output target at the facility - which is located on the western limb of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa - at some point next year.
In addition, Pallinghurst is looking to focus on platinum prospects at Sedibelo and Magazynskraal, with an initial prefeasibility study on the latter suggesting it has a resource of 22 million ounces.
The drilling programme at Magazynskraal should be completed by the end of the month, with the bankable feasibility study results to follow in 12 months' time.
In an interview with Mining Weekly, Chief Executive Arne Frandsen explained that Pallinghurst will become a major player in the platinum industry if the projects prove successful.
"We have 15 drill rigs on site at Magazynskraal, which I think is the highest density of rigs in the Bushveld right now," he told the news provider.
"If we achieve the ramp-up and the consolidations, we'll have a complex that will be a potential top-four world producer."
Pallinghurst also has interests in coloured gemstones, steel feed materials and its luxury brand Faberge.
