Palladium-alloy hydrogen purifier firm wins prestigious award 15th June 2010

A company which manufactures palladium-alloy hydrogen purifiers has landed a top award in the US, it emerged yesterday (14th June).

Power and Energy Incorporated was picked by youngStartUp Ventures as one of the winners of the annual New York Venture Summit Top Innovator gong.

The award, which is designed to honour innovative private companies in the technology, life sciences and clean-tech sectors, will be presented on 17th June at the Hotel Penn.

With proprietary manufacturing and patented purification, separation and generation technologies, Power and Energy is playing a key role in the push towards a hydrogen economy.

Its palladium-alloy hydrogen purifier, known as Micro-Channel, is capable of purifying any grade of the gas to meet requirements for semiconductors, LEDs and solar cells.

The company is now attempting to use its skills in this area to boost the hydrogen refuelling market for fuel cell vehicles, which is a major impediment to the technology at present.

Established in 1999, the stated aim of youngStartup Ventures is to provide support to budding entrepreneurs.
