NKWE Platinum to add more farms as it heads to JSE 15th February 2008
NKWE Platinum is aiming to add a total of six contiguous farms to the five it already has access to as well as coming to the JSE.
The firm is coming to JSE in June after Genorah reached an agreement with Anglo Platinum and the Department of Minerals and Energy over prospecting mining rights for the five farms.
Genorah has already vended two farms into NKWE Platinum and could acquire the remaining three in exchange for granting partner shares in the firm, miningmx reports.
As a result, Genorah will own between 60 per cent and 70 per cent of NKWE Platinum.
An estimated 100 million oz of mineralisation could be found on the five farms allowing the project to support an independent smelter and refinery.
NKWE Platinum Managing Director Meredi Mphahlele said the firm is looking for "fresh approaches" for commercial negotiations and insisted that there was no dispute with Anglo Platinum.
"We are committed to resource definition and the listing timetable of Genorah and NKWE. This resolution signifies to NKWE and Genorah a primary asset to develop our planned mines, and the economic growth and upliftment that it will provide to the province and the people of Limpopo," he told Mining Weekly.
