New York Mercantile Exchange announces margin changes 13th March 2008

The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) has announced a change in margins for its platinum and palladium future contracts.

Effective from the close of business yesterday (March 12th), the margins will increase to $6,000 from $5,000 for clearing members, $6,600 from $5,500 for members and $8,100 to $6,750 for customers.

Meanwhile, margins for the Asian platinum futures contract will increase to $1,928 from $1,608 for clearing members, $2,121 from $1,769 for members and $2,603 from $2,171 for customers.

In addition to the increases for platinum, palladium futures have also gone up to $4,500 from $4,000 for clearing members, $4,950 from $4,400 for members and $6,075 from $5,400 for customers.

Margins for the Asian palladium futures contract have also changed with increases to $723 from $643 for clearing member to $795 for $707 for members and to $976 from $868 for customers, mondovisone.com reports.
