New technology improves diesel filter performance 12th April 2005
The performance of diesel particulate filters which reduce emissions is set to improve, with the news that a US company has developed new innovative technology.
A number of new technologies announced by Emitec will help to remove impurities and produce cleaner tail pipe emissions, the company claims.
In particular, Emitec has developed a new particulate filter capable of reducing particulate matter by up to 80 per cent.
The company is also offering new structured turbulent foil substrate solutions which it says provide the leap in exhaust gas aftertreatment needed to meet future performance and cost requirements.
Other solutions include: a nitrogen oxide absorber and sensor catalyst which allows for reduced packaging and direct regeneration control; a pre-turbo catalyst which uses the higher exhaust gas temperatures for effective reduction of pollutants; and an SCR catalyst system which uses ammonia to directly reduce nitrogen oxide.
Emitec claims to be one of the leading manufacturers of metallic substrates and diesel particulate filters for exhaust aftertreatment and evaporative emissions.
