New Russian fuel cell car presented at Motorshow 8th March 2004
A new fuel cell powered vehicle has been unveiled at the Motorshow in Switzerland.
Russian car manufacturer Avtovaz showed off the latest development in the sector in the shape of its Antel-2 vehicle.
Branded with the Lada logo, the fuel cell vehicle is powered using compressed hydrogen stored in the car at 400 bar in a 90 litre tank.
The car, which was first developed during the Moscow Autoshow in September, has a range of around 220 miles.
Avtovaz has now produced two fuel cell vehicles, with the latest addition building on their Antel-1 model from 2001.
The first model was an alkaline fuel cell powered off-road vehicle, and could be joined by a third model later next year.
The firm says it is currently working on a number of ideas in the fuel cell industry, and anticipates the commercialisation of fuel cell vehicle to take place by 2010.
