New promotional organisation targets palladium demand in China 20th April 2006
A newly formed, London-based promotional organisation is aiming to increase demand for palladium items in China.
Palladium Alliance International, formed last month, is launching a significant marketing push in Beijing and Shanghai, involving television commercials, magazine ads and a number of events.
"We think palladium, because of its price, has a great future in the jewellery market." said the company's chairman John Stark, according to Shanghai Daily
"It is white, bright and will appeal to those who like clean-looking jewellery," Mr Stark added.
China's palladium jewellery consumption grew by 70 per cent last year and has now reached levels in excess of 37 metric tons. The country accounts for 85 percent of the world's total palladium consumption for jewellery according to Johnson Matthey's Platinum 2005 Interim Review.
