New platinum spark plugs prove their worth in NASCAR series 10th March 2004
A new platinum sparkplug has been hailed by a championship winning NASCAR racing team.
The Champion Double Platinum spark plug has platinum centre and ground electrodes which offer high performance for the motorsport industry.
The manufacturer says that the result is a 'highly focused spark that provides greater power for quicker acceleration and smoother idle', a sentiment that has been given backing by champion Matt Kenseth and his team.
Indeed, Kenseth's latest victory in the series, means that Champion plugs have now featured in four of the top seven drivers in Nextel Cup points, with Kenseth top of the pile.
'We're thrilled for Matt and the Champion brand,' commented Champion Marketing Director Garth Cole.
'There's no better way to start the season than with three straight Nextel Cup wins; Champion's industry-best technologies continue to do what they've done for decades - power all makes and models to victory in the world's toughest racing series.'
Champion is now seeking to promote the spark plugs for passenger applications, rolling out its electrode approach, combining precious-metal conductors with optimized firing-end geometries.
Champion says the spark plugs match the specifications of most of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers.
