New platinum-cured silicone tubing launched 5th August 2009

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics revealed today (5th August) that it has launched a new range of platinum-cured silicone tubing.

The Sani-Tech Ultra products are designed to meet the demands of biopharmaceutical process applications and are characterised by their lengthy peristaltic pump tubing life.

Saint-Gobain has suggested that the tubing - which is developed in a certified clean room - improves fluid integrity and greatly reduces the risk of contamination by extractables.

"In a controlled test of Sani-Tech Ultra and three competitors, Ultra lasted from 20 per cent longer to twice as long as other tubing products," said the company.

"Other features include excellent flexibility, laser etching for lot traceability and non-yellowing properties. It is fully autoclavable and sterilisable, and accommodates a wide range of temperatures (-62 degrees C to 260 degrees C)."

In addition, Saint-Gobain claims that the tubing is "fully characterised, validated and tested to a variety of specifications, including USP Class VI, ISO 10993 and EP 3.1.9".

The Sani-Tech Ultra is being rolled out in 50 and 65 durometers and 91 different ID/OD combinations, while customisation with add-ons such as bulk spool packaging and pre-delivery gamma irradiation are also available.

Saint-Gobain has been involved in producing polymer products for over four decades.
