New Mercedes particulate filter deal 15th September 2003
It has been announced that French exhaust system producer Faurecia is to supply diesel particulate filters for DaimlerChrysler's four-cylinder Mercedes C and E Class vehicles, in a deal effective from the end of the year.
Faurecia will work with German firm Tenneco Automotive, which will also supply filters from its Edenkoben plant.
The Mercedes catalyst-based filter is formulated with oxides and precious metals, which are wash coated on the filtration surface of a monolithic filter.
Close proximity to the exhaust system ensures the high exhaust temperatures needed to oxidise collected soot. The system permits augmentation of exhaust temperature during low engine load driving conditions.
This is the second particulate filter to be produced by Faurecia in cooperation with Tenneco, the first having been rolled out in 2000 for Peugeot.
