Platinum mining firm Lonmin has announced the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The company has revealed that Alan Ferguson will take on the role of CFO from June 6th this year and will also take up a position on the Lonmin board.

John Robinson, current CFO at Lonmin, will retire from the company at the end of June and will resign as a director on June 6th to allow Mr Ferguson to take up his new responsibilities.

However, Mr Robinson will stay on in a part-time role at the Lonmin group, working as Chairperson of the Lonmin Development Trust, the platinum miner revealed.

Mr Ferguson will join Lonmin from BOC, where he was appointed Group Finance Director in 2005. He has also held several positions at Inchcape, where he worked for 22 years and was Group Finance Director from 1999 to 2005.
