Nelson Mandela platinum coin celebrates Nobel Peace Prize 22nd August 2011
A platinum coin commemorating Nelson Mandela's Nobel Peace Prize win has been minted in South Africa.
It is part of a twin set from the South African Gold Coin Exchange celebrating the achievements of the former president and Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
The half-ounce Mandela laureate coin is made of platinum and the one-ounce Suu Kyi coin is minted from silver.
Both leaders won the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to bring democracy to their respective nations.
Limited to 2,011 sets, the coins will sell for R19,500 (£1,640).
