Most expensive poker set goes on sale 15th March 2011
The world's most expensive poker set has been launched by a London maker of luxury games.
Geoffrey Parker has unveiled a custom made poker set made from precious stones and metals that will cost around $7.5 million (£4.67 million).
It will include four platinum-plated decks of cards in addition to chips sporting a variety of gemstones.
The bespoke set features a genuine alligator skin case finished in any colour specified and lined with an 18ct gold and diamond frame holding 384 18ct white gold chips.
Each chip will be edged with precious stones including rubies, sapphires, diamonds, emeralds and black diamonds.
In total, the set will have an estimated 22,364 stones with 1,012 carats.
Orders for the bespoke set are already being taken, with delivery time estimated at between six and nine months.
The luxury price tag could increase, however, should prices of the precious stones and metals used rise.
Geoffrey Parker designed a special silver and silver-gilt chess set for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
Plated in 3 micron 18ct gold on top of the sterling silver, the set bore a unique Silver Jubilee hallmark that only precious metal pieces made that year were given.
