Morozov named Director General at Norilsk Nickel 4th April 2007

Denis Morozov has assumed his position as Director General of Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting operator Norilsk Nickel, after being unanimously voted in at a board meeting last month.

The promotion for Mr Morozov, who had been the company's Deputy Director General, comes after the previous holder of the role Mikhail Prokhorov resigned to concentrate on other interests.

Commenting on his appointment and the company's future strategy, Mr Morozov said: "The company is a well operating entity today. Everything goes smoothly under the leadership of professional managers capable not only of setting aggressive goals, but also of achieving impressive results.

"Continuing implementation of the corporate development strategy delivers the industry's highest return to our shareholders in the form of dividend payments, multi-fold increase in share price, as well as equity interests in spun-off assets."

He added: "I would like to emphasise that all of the projects launched recently will be completed as scheduled to the benefit of all our shareholders."
