MJSA announces platinum, palladium jewellery award winners 14th February 2012
Professional jewellery making and design trade association MJSA has announced the winners of its annual Vision Awards in New York next month.
A number of the finest platinum and palladium jewellery makers will honoured at the MJSA Expo New York trade show from March 11th -13th.
Among the winners this year is Brian Sholdt of Sholdt in Seattle, who picked up first prize in the Palladium Distinction category.
He won for the Palladium Engagement Ring featuring the artist's Fern Finish in a solitaire engagement ring with a 6.5 mm diamond.
Second place went to Susan Drake of Spectrum Art & Jewelry in Wilmington, North Carolina, for her Green Flash ring.
Sholdt also came first in the Platinum Distinction category for a ring featuring a casting that is 90 per cent platinum and ten per cent iridium.
Mark Schneider of Mark Schneider Designs in Long Beach, California, was second for his Manta Ray brooch.
Cynthia Renee of Cynthia Renee Inc. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina took second place in the Custom Design category behind Schneider for her Fireball Ring, which is made from yellow gold, rose gold and platinum.
Julie Buckareff of JJ Buckar in Toronto picked up first and second places in the Laser Distinction category for pieces that included one ring made from six separate cast pieces in platinum.
