Johnson Matthey chemical firm expands in China 23rd March 2006

Chemical company Alfa Aesar has announced details of a new facility in China which will help develop the firm's presence in the region.

Operating under the umbrella of parent firm Johnson Matthey, Alfa Aesar China will set up the plant in the Tianjin Economic Development Area (TEDA).

The centre is designed to bolster service in the region, delivering research chemicals from a catalogue of over 27,000 products to customers in the rapidly expanding market.

With further expansion already planned at the site, Johnson Matthey Research Chemicals director Barry Singelais hailed the move as a sign of things to come.

"The creation of Alfa Aesar China is a reflection of our optimism about the prospects for growth in China," he said.

"We already have a strong organization in the field and now we are supporting them with a dedicated facility, logistical support, expanded product range and a new catalogue."

Alfa Aesar China also boasts a central office in Beijing as well as four regional sales offices around the country.

China is the world's fastest growing economy, with its expanding population offering a huge consumer market for industry.
