The new initiative, known as 'Platinum Jewels in Bloom', saw designs set alongside floral arrangements at stores between 57th and 86th Streets from 8th to 17th April.

Indian jeweller GRT is set to launch new platinum coins to mark Akshaya Trithiya on 16th May, it has been confirmed.

Managing Director Anantha Padmanaban explained that the precious metal is increasingly finding favour among consumers in Chennai, one of the country's largest jewellery markets.

"Chennai has been the biggest domestic market for platinum jewellery since it was introduced in India five years ago," he told the New Indian Express.

"Engagement rings and simple pendants are best sellers."
