Actress Christina Hendricks Shines for Unique Precious Metal Palladium (02/03/11)

Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks was named the face of Vivienne Westwood's Get a Life palladium jewellery collection.

The collection features both couture and retail pieces, all made from the naturally white platinum group metal.

Ms Hendricks said she is a big fan of the British designer, explaining: "I admire that Vivienne uses her designs to inspire change and the pieces are just so wonderful."

She added: "As Palladium is a naturally white metal, the pieces really sparkle under the lights and I cannot wait to wear them on the red carpet!"

According to Westwood, designs from the palladium collection are inspired by nature and from symbols of paganism, with the acorn, oak tree and the heart all featuring prominently.

The jewellery collection will be available in full from March 30th at the designer's boutiques in London and Los Angeles.

Cartier sees a sparkling future in India (18/03/11)

Luxury platinum jeweller Cartier views India as a promising market for its products as the country's population becomes more affluent.

Despite a lack of luxury retail destinations in the country, the company already has a boutique in Delhi and wants to expand to other major cities to take advantage of a luxury market that is expected to grow 12-fold by 2015 to be worth $30 billion (£18.8 billion).

Other brands, including Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Christian Dior and Chanel, are already well-established in India to capitalise on this growth.

However, Cartier hopes to exploit its historical links with India. It famously produced a necklace for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala in 1928, which had five rows of diamond-encrusted platinum chains with the world's seventh largest DeBeers diamond as the centre piece.

Fitted platinum engagement and wedding rings 'very popular'? (23/03/11)

More people could be choosing fitted platinum engagement and wedding rings as the style becomes increasingly popular, as one expert claims there will be a move away from the traditional diamond arrangement.

Rachel Morgan, editor of Wedding Ideas magazine, said: "The fitted wedding and engagement ring band is very popular, whereby they go together so you have a very plain wedding band and the engagement ring sits very closely to it."
