Leading jeweller Novell confirmed last month that its palladium wedding ring style L1106-GCC is playing a part in its new 'Palladium Wedding Ring Video of the Day' feature.

Transworld News reports that the ring - which is 8mm wide and has 23 .10 round diamonds on it at a total carat weight of 2.30 - is also available at a number of Novell-authorised retail outlets.

Palladium is popular as a wedding ring choice as it is cheaper than platinum and gold, despite offering many of the same qualities.

A special exhibition organised by Platinum Guild International took place in Italy during November and has been hailed as a great success, JCKonline reports.

The 'In Fede, 'Eternal Platinum, the Ultimate Symbol of Love'' project, which took place in Milan, saw platinum pieces on display which were created by 23 designers.

The group of seven architects, seven fashion designers, seven jewellery designers and two design students were asked to communicate their vision of eternal love through a platinum wedding ring.

"The variety and richness of design that these great minds can provide should be expressed over all categories," Alba Cappellieri, exhibit curator, told the news provider.

In the run-up to Christmas, Tiffany & Co launched a range of festive jewellery, with two platinum-based items featuring prominently.

The first was a Christmas tree charm worth $2,400, with diamonds, onyx, tsavorites and pink sapphire platinum gemstones, available for purchase on a 16-inch chain.

Secondly, the retailer offered an ice skate charm with round diamonds and Tiffany's patented blue and white enamel finish in platinum, worth $2,100 and also on a 16-inch chain.
