Indian jewellers launching new platinum lines 7th January 2009
A number of leading Indian jewellers have launched new ranges of platinum jewellery in the past few months, the India Times reports today (7th January).
The price of platinum in India has fallen from major highs 12 months ago and some companies are now attempting to bring buyers back to the market with lucrative offers.
Orra Diamonds, for example, has seen great interest in its new 'Platinum Couples' range of rings aimed at couples celebrating engagements or anniversaries.
Director Vijay Jain told the news provider: "We also launched Orra Platinum Eternity bangles, targeted at the more traditional market three months ago and the response has been fantastic."
Another company which is looking to benefit from the expected boost in demand is Pratibha Jewellery House, which has launched a line of men's chains and wedding bands for both sexes.
"We're hopeful that with some promotion of these prices, sales in platinum accessories and jewellery will see a rise," Sanjeev Mohan, a partner at the firm, told the India Times.
The current price of platinum in India is around Rs 1,700 per g.
